Watch: Erling Haaland tells Mikel Arteta to ‘stay humble’

City players were fiercely critical of Arsenal’s tactics after the 2-2 draw on Sunday

A furious Erling Haaland told Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta to “stay humble” and then called Gabriel Jesus a “f—— clown” in a post-match tirade after the final whistle on Sunday.
Haaland, the City striker, had earlier clashed with the Arsenal players during the final seconds of the dramatic 2-2 draw, including 17-year-old debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly.
In footage now released by broadcaster Sky Sports, Haaland can be heard arguing with Jesus, the Arsenal forward, after turning his attention towards Arteta.
“Stay humble, eh,” Haaland said to Arteta, before slapping him on the back. “Stay humble.”
Haaland was then confronted by Jesus, a former City player, who asked: “Why are you talking?”
Haaland then appears to push Jesus away, saying: “Talking about what? I wasn’t talking. F—— clown. What are you talking about? Get the f—- away you f—— clown.”

The new footage comes as Manuel Akanji, the City defender, accused Arsenal of “always looking for drama” as he described Arteta’s side as masters of football’s dark arts.
In comments that will further stoke the rising tensions between the two sides, Akanji also claimed Arsenal were happy to settle for a point in Sunday’s eventful clash. He added that the outcome of the title race will be no different this year to the last few seasons, with City ending the campaign on top.
City’s players complained after the match about Arsenal being “dirty” and appeared to taunt Arsenal’s players for their lack of trophies.
Asked about the chaotic nature of the match, Akanji said: “That’s what they’re looking for. Always when we play against them, that’s what they’re looking for. The drama. Going hard in the duels, defence, 11 players in their own box and then go on set pieces and try to score a goal.
“It worked for them so if they’re happy with the one point… we’re not, we tried to get more but that’s what they’re happy with.”
Asked if Arsenal are masters of the dark arts, Akanji said: “Yeah, but in the end we always won the title and I don’t think it is going to be different this year. I don’t think there are many better than them at it [the dark arts].
“With the time wasting, we cannot control this. It is up to the referee to do. But in the end, it’s obviously hard to score against anyone who has 10 with the keeper in their own box. So we tried our best. But if you don’t concede the two goals, then it looks different. It was maybe one goal too much.
“We have to defend ourselves because in every duel, every free kick that was given, they went on the floor. Players go on the floor to get up, sprint back again, go on the floor again, one of their team went over to tell the keeper to go on the floor and stuff like this. I mean, there’s nothing we can do about it. In the end, It’s up to the referee to control throughout the whole season, to control these situations.”
On Sunday City midfielder Bernardo Silva said only one team “came to play football” at the Etihad.
“The other came to play to the limits of what was possible to do and allowed by the referee, unfortunately,” said Bernardo.
“The difference [between City’s rivalry with Arsenal and with Liverpool]? I don’t know. Maybe that Liverpool have already won a Premier League – Arsenal haven’t. That Liverpool have won a Champions League, Arsenal haven’t.
“Liverpool always faced us face-to-face to try to win the games, so by this perspective the games against Arsenal haven’t been like the ones we had and have against Liverpool. So yes, maybe a different rivalry.”
