Description
William IV sterling silver tankard. Made by William Chawner in London in 1834. Drum-form with spread foot, strap-hinged and double-domed cover, and s-scroll handle. Chased, engraved, and embossed frieze depicting horses grazing in bosky paddock. Asymmetrical scrolled frame (vacant). Stippled and scalloped leaf borders and mounts. Cover top has cast finial in form of bristly-tailed fox on irregular concentric ground. Fully marked.Dimensions: H 11 x W 9 x D 6 3/4 in. Weight: 42 troy ounces. #BV424
