Description
Very interesting and fairly unusual hammered silver salt cellars marked for William Hutton & Sons Ltd. with hallmarks for 1902 London Assay. They are monogrammed HD and have tarnishing. Overall very good condition with no old repairs or dents. Bowls have a rounded triangular shape with scrolled feet. The attachment of the feet to the bowl appears to be copper rivets. There is a brass tone on the high parts of the feet, not gold wash, so the feet may be silverplate. The cellar bodies are each double hallmarked to the bottom and sides as English silver. The marks also have the cross arrows with the hallmark, which appeared on Hutton pieces in 1902 after an acquisition of Creswick & Co. Each one measures 1 1/2" tall and about 2 1/4" wide. Total weight is 3.8ozt.
