Vintage Sheaffers Signature Snorkel Fountain Pen 1950's - Black
This pen is vintage and is in as found condition. I have not refurbished this pen in any way.
The band on the cap has not been etched with a signature, but the pen body has the name "Peggy" impressed onto it -see pics. The pen body is also marked: "WA Sheaffer Pen Co Fort Madison, Iowa U.S.A. Made in U.S.A." The cap threads are still good and fit well for a secure closure. The end cap twists properly to extend the snorkel from the nib and pulls out as well.
The back of the pen cap has a small red mark on it. It looks like something hot was dropped onto the pen, or the pen came into contact with something hot to cause the raised red blotch -see pics. The pen body and cap have fine scratches as you would expect from being used for many years. The pen has the white dot above the pocket clip. There are no markings on the cap band or the pocket clip to indicate that it is a solid gold material, so it is assumed to be gold filled.
Pen length is 5 1/2 inches long. The nib looks to be stainless steel and is marked "Sheaffer's Reg U.S. Pat. Office Made in U.S.A"
