Vintage Program Hotel Pierre Cotillion NYC 1957 SIGNED Mayor Robert F WagnerVintage Program Hotel Pierre Cotillion NYC 1957 SIGNED Mayor Robert F Wagner
Historic American Autograph Auctions by Saturday's Toys presents...
a vintage autograph from the former Mayor of New York City... Robert F. Wagner
Wagner served the City of New York for three terms:
January 1, 1954 – December 31, 1965
An exceptional example of the close political relationships that existed during the 1950's... and appear to have lasted through present-day New York politics.
As obtained on the original printed program for an event that Wagner attended on May 25, 1957 at the Hotel Pierre in New York City. The event was held in the hotel's Cotillion Room (site of filming for the 1992 "Scene of a Woman" with Academy Award winning actor Al Pacino with co-star Chris O'Donnell). In addition to Pacino's "best actor" nod for this film, he was nominated for a total of nine times for the coveted Academy Award. The tango from this film (with Pacino's co-star Gabrielle Anwar) is considered to be among the most celebrated dances on film during the 1990's.
On this evening, as hundreds gathered for the 4th Annual meeting of the officer and members of the New York City Nursing Home Association. The document is clear evidence that the organization was significantly supported by the city's most celebrated democrat political names. Wagner himself was personally supported by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt (unfortunately, Eleanor was in Houston, Texas on the night of the banquet). The organization's officers included James M. Rosen, Morris Goldsmith, Harold Kaye, Frank Rizza, Freda Majzlin and May McKenna.
The entertainment for the evening included Stanley Melba and the Cotillion Room Orchestra... as featured on the extended play vinyl record (Steppin' in Society) that perfectly captures the magnificent music of this celebrated orchestra.
Members of the Board of Directors included: Howard J. Adler, William Kehlmann, Frank Horrman, Ben Landess, Sidney Hoffman, Sydney Levy, Eugene Hollander, Irwin Polk, Jean Kaplan, Syd Rossman, Robert Kaufmann, and Nathan Stern.
The ballpoint pen signature of Robert F. Wagner is boldly inscribed on the front cover
Folded at center by the original recipient (undisclosed). Still, an impressive document from the mid-twentieth century in the heart of Manhattan.
Program features a teal cord and tassel; and measures 5.5" x 8"
Nicely preserved.

Saturday’s Toys and Collectibles
was founded in 1994 by Southern California author and media historian, Dave Mason. Soon after eBay's launch the following year, Saturday's Toys was among the first online specialists to strategize in embracing this rapidly developing technology. Having delivered over 15,000 coveted treasures since that time, Saturday's Toys is pleased to partner with researchers and collectors throughout the globe.
Today, online offerings of archival keepsakes are presented in celebration of the times that allow for family, friends and neighbors to join in memorable gatherings that nurture the strong connections that bind a community together. These treasures are affectionately represented by "Saturday's Toys." In that light we present our adopted motto (with a nod to the Sherman Brothers):
"Oh, let's go fly a kite!"
