    A bit of history
Krolevets has long been considered the center of Polesie weaving art. Krolevets towels attract solemn festivity, beauty and monumental patterns, sparkle red on a white background. Weaving in Krolevtsi has been developed since the foundation of the city (1601). Outstanding masters of the second half of the XVIII century. made colorful carpets, towels, woven red on white, stuffed with pictures of birds, flowers, rhombuses. In 1863 there were 208 weavers in the city. At the end of XIX century. patterned weaving became an artisanal trade. The most famous patterned rabbit towels were in the XIX century.
The history left some names of weavers, each of which had its own style, a peculiar manner of execution. These are Nastya Ivanitskaya, Peter Bedny, Lavrenty Rynda and his son Eutykhy, grandchildren Ivan and Vasily. For the rabbits' towels, it is characteristic to use the traditional brute-weaving technique.
In the old towels of the Krolevets masters, stylized floral motifs, eight-legged rosettes, medallions, roosters, cranes are common. Blossom "tree of life", flowerpots. His favorite were drawings of so-called "candlesticks", of which, rose red flowers. The so-called "Eaglets" towels with double-headed eagles were distributed. As a variant, there were also two-headed eagles with lowered wings. According to the ethnographer and archaeologist Fyodor Vovka, the depiction of the royal coat of arms chronologically corresponded to the patterns of coats of arms on money
At the beginning of the XX century. there are innovations: the hrstikovy seam extends, polychrome penetrates into the embroidery together with the factory threads, new subjects appear, in particular genre scenes.
In Soviet times, a factory operated in the city, employing about 800 people. Krolevetskaya embroidery manufactory at these times did not shy away from demonstrative glorification of happy Soviet reality, communist holidays, congresses of the CPSU, etc. Perhaps it was thanks to this pragmatic pro-government mimicry that this traditional trade came to our times, and was not destroyed
