Sterling Early 1900's Wigfull  England BUTTER KNIFE ... about  5 1/2" .. 19 grams...marked on the back with H.W./Crown/Walking Lion / and D (I believe for year 1906)...... could you a touch of polish but nice piece.  From a great buyer Jake at Hampton Hallmarks who gave me the following information: "
The item was made in Sheffield in the UK by Henry Wigfull who began his work there in the late 1800s and ran into the early 1900s. The city mark for Sheffield is that crown. The lion passant is of course the stamp for sterling silver. I could not see the date mark very well but I am pretty sure it is either a "d" or an "o" and they look somewhat alike in the old Gothic script.   the company name is Lee & Wigfull and was located in John Street Works, Highfield, Sheffield ,subsequently Lee & Wigfull Ltd. The company also was known to be a producer of a good bit of sliver plated items and were quite well known
."
