SHEAFFER WASP "THE CLIPPER" PEN, LF, NPT/1938 FINE GOLD/SILVER LAMINATED LINING

Description

Here's a  pretty WASP CLIPPER pen in a color scheme I've not seen before. This consists of laminated randomly oriented groups of short lines in gold and silver with the silver overlaying the gold. The silver lining is more complex with a black stripe running down the middle of each silver thread. The pen is 5" long with large black end caps which complete themselves in a low conic taper. All plastic appears to be in excellent, flawless condition. The trim is nickel plated and while the band and lever are in good condition, the clip had significant corrosion which I cleaned off to a bright finish, but the top of the clip, shows significant pitting (It doesn't show up very well in the clip photo).  The barrel imprint is hard to read because of the background decoration, but it reads in 4 lines, THE CLIPPER, WASP PEN CO. INC., FT MADISON IOWA, USA., PATENTED IN USA.  The pen is a lever filler and will require a new sac before it will take up ink. The nib is an excellent 14kt   WASP, MADE IN USA, 3. It is, I think, a straight medium point with good iridium and significant flexibility. An fine example of this excellent SHEAFFER  sub-brand.
