Description

Joseph Maxwell Cleland served as Senator from the state of Georgia, Secretary of the American Battle Monuments Commission, Secretary of State of Georgia, Administrator of Veterans Affairs, and member of the Georgia State Senate. Cleland was also a recipient of the Silver Star and Bronze Star for valorous actions in the Vietnam War.
This photograph came from the collection of a Mr. Richard Whiting of Georgia. Most of the items in the collection are accompanied with personal letters for autograph requests.
