    Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Very Rare Restored Circa 1920 Sheaffer Non-White Dot Flat-Top 14K Autograph Trim Fountain Pen in the Ebony Line Hard Rubber. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
This an early style pen that dates to Circa 1920. The Sheaffer Flat-Top Autograph Fountain Pen is Model 29C which had the 3/8" wide 14K Cap Banding which was the widest available. They were very distinctive and conservative pens at the same time but of unusually high grade.
I have hand cleaned the NIB, feed, section, cap, and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the 14K Solid Gold Clip, 14K Solid Gold Cap Banding, and 14K Gold NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the hard rubber of the fountain pen.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. This Sheaffer Hard Rubber Flat-Top is an AUTOGRAPH model having the 14K Solid Gold Clip and Cap Banding. The clip and cap banding have been polished to shine brightly and display no wear. The lever is in excellent condition shining bright with no wear. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "W.A. SHEAFFER PEN CO PAT'D AUG. 25-08 FORT MADISON, IA U.S.A. DEC. 10-12-JAN. 27-OCT. 20-NOV. 24-14". This Autograph has NO engraving on the 14K cap banding. This Sheaffer Sheaffer Flat-Top Fountain Pen measures 5 1/4" in length capped, 6 1/2" posted, and diameter at .48" inches.
I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should.
This Sheaffer has a proper #2 Self-Filling Sheaffer NIB that is 14K. The iridium point tipping is measuring roughly .62mm, a medium point when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with an extra-fine to double broad stroke line variation. In the writing sample provided, the extra-fine line measures between .41mm and will flex to 1.46mm with medium to firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
This is one of those vintage Sheaffer Flat-Top Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection due to being an Autograph model and a very early example. This classy Sheaffer Autograph Flat-Top Fountain Pen in the Black Hard Rubber would grade in Excellent Condition. Certainly, this fountain pen is collector grade and is ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.

    Please Read Carefully Before Bidding:
I strive to find unique and difficult to find pieces that I believe will capture the attention of collectors. I spend a great deal of time traveling, talking with people, sitting at auctions and waiting in line at estate sales to find these pieces. Some of the items are "farm fresh" and some I have had in my possession for years and time to let others enjoy. Please make sure this item is what you want before bidding. If you would like different pictures or have concerns about damage, on whether it is repainted or repaired ask before bidding. If I can find out, I will. These are antiques so expect them not to be "perfect".

I do not clean most items for fear of harm. I, unfortunately, am not an expert on anything, if you need any further info or pictures, please contact me before bidding. I will do my best to help you.
