    Description

Up for your consideration extremely rare superb Georgian sterling silver cruet set with 3 shakers and 3 condiment bottles. This is a very fine quality set made in the reign of King George II by James Wilks. Casters are of classic lighthouse shape with a finely chased and pierced pull-off lid with flame finial. The body of the casters has a gently curving neck and rounded body above a stepped round pedestal base. All casters and the base (except the large sugar coaster) marked for 1754 James Wilks, London sterling silver. The biggest sugar caster marked with 1742 London sterling silver marks and most likely the mark of John Faux (second letter is definitely F, the first one could be D or J). Every condiment bottle and every caster (shaker) decorated with FLOOD Family crest which described as “a wolf’s head, erased”. The base decorated with coat of arms which I was not able to identify. This set was purchased from Sothbey’s in 1997 for 00- Sothbey’s stickers attached to some bottles and the base. The base is also bearing the sticker of H. Perovetz Ltd Antiques (London). Overall the whole set with stand measuring 7”(W) x 7”(L) x 7 ½” (H). The tallest bottles are approximately 6 ½” high; small shakers are 4 ½” high; tall shaker is 5 ¾” high. The weight of the silver (only) is 1150g. The set is in Excellent condition with obvious signs of previous polishing
    – it’s actually pretty amazing how does it look considering over 260 years of life.
