    Description

Petrified Peanut Wood Rough Rock Fossil
This is an unpolished stone slab of natural rough rock of Petrified Peanut Wood.
This fossil stone slab is 4.5 inches by 4 inches and 6 mm thick.
It weighs .26 lbs. and is shown wet in the first 2 pictures.
The light colored areas are what used to be boreholes in the original wood.   The original conifer wood was washed into the ocean and then attacked by small marine shellfish called "Teredo".  They bore small tunnels into the wood & eventually the entire piece was riddled with boreholes. When the wood became waterlogged, it sank to the bottom of the ocean & settled into the mud.
It is found along the edges of the Kennedy Ranges about 100 miles inland from the coastal town of Carnarvon, Western Australia.   This Petrified Wood is from the Cretaceous period, which makes it around 70 million years old.
    Metaphysical Properties
:  Petrified Wood is said to be a stone of patience and slow and steady growth.
