    Description

Peanut Wood Slab Australian Petrified Wood Fossil Lapidary Polished Rock w Stand
A beautiful fossilized specimen of peanut wood showing lots of "peanut" markings. The markings are produced by white mineral infilling of boreholes during the fossilization process. The wood is Aruacaria, an ancient type of conifer, and is from Western Australia. It is estimated to be 70 million years old!
It measures 7 3/4 inches wide x 6 inches tall x 1 inch thick, and is very heavy. The front is polished with a beautiful finish, and the back is not polished and is the dull look in the last photo.
It is in excellent condition, and never used or displayed.
An acrylic display stand is included.
Purchased before 2000. Mining date unknown.
