    Description

    Up for bid is a pair of small English sterling footed serving baskets by maker L&S, Birmingham, 1898-99.  The pieces are 6 inches long by 4 1/8 inches wide by 2 inches tall and together weigh 100 grams.  They have face mask ends and pierced floral scroll decoration.  The stand on four ball feet.  They have not been monogrammed.  They are marked on opposite sides of the rim with “STERLING” and an [L&S] maker’s mark on one hand and Birmingham assay marks for 1898-99 on the other.
    Condition on the dishes is fairly good.  There is a small repaired crack on one rim, as well as a few minor dings and bends.  Some nice little silver baskets.
