  • Condition: These spoons are in good to very good antique condition. The crests are still clear; most of the feather edge engraving is still good, though it is rubbed in spots; there are no dents or rim issues in bowls; some spots of persistent tarnish; one spoon has a bit of deeper scratching up near to of handle on back; and both spoons have small scratches and tiny nicks in bowls.

    Description

    This pair of Old English pattern platter or stuffing spoons are 11" long and weigh 90 and 88 grams respectively for a combined weight of 178 grams.
    Each spoon has an identical crest that looks like a feathered crown, and each spoon's handle has a band of feather edge decoration down both handles to the bowl.
    On the back the spoons are identically marked for the makers Thomas and William Chawner; the crowned Leopard's head for London's assay office; the lower case Gothic letter p for 1770; and the lion passant.
