Description
~ A Matched Set of 6 Georgian Sterling Silver Gilt Dessert Forks ~~ In the Kings Hourglass Pattern ~
~ Made in London in 1826-29, in the reign of King George IV ~
~ Made by William Eaton (5) and Joseph Hardy (1) ~
These rare Georgian Silver Gilt Dessert Forks are in the classic Kings Hourglass Pattern
with the scarce Union Shell Heel. They are 6 3/4" in length and weigh 386 grams total. These are a variant of the standard Kings Hourglass Pattern as both the front and back shells are concave, rather than the standard where the front shell is concave and the back shell convex. The pattern is still very crisp on all 6 forks.
The hallmarks are very crisp on all 6 forks.
- 5 Forks have the following hallmarks -
Makers' Mark 'WE' for William Eaton,
Lion Passant
Leopard's Head
Date Letter 'o' for 1829 London
Duty Mark
- 1 Fork has the following hallmarks -
Makers' Mark 'JH' for Joseph Hardy

Leopard's Head
Date Letter 'l' (ell) for 1826 London
Duty Mark
These lovely forks have never been engraved. There is some very slight gilding loss under magnification to one of the forks and some minor tine wear as might be expected. Nevertheless a fabulous matched set of Silver Gilt Kings Hourglass Dessert Forks that is ready to grace your table.
