    On March 30, 1947, three Lehi fighters managed under the auspices of the night, to break through the fences of the refineries without being discovered, to place explosives in three large tanks and to withdraw safely.
    Eleven large tanks went up in the explosion. The fire went on for days. The financial damage was great, and the government was quick to impose a special levy on every liter of fuel to compensate the Iraqi oil company they own. The action also damaged the prestige of the Mandate government
