John G. Carlisle (1834-1910) 1893 typed 2 page letter on Treasury Department stationary. He was Secretary 1893-1897. He was also Senator from Kentucky 1890-1893, Representative 1877-1890 and Speaker Of The House 1883-1889. Letter concerns the need for assistant inspectors for steam vessels.
