    Indiana Territory; Presidential Elector Enoch McCarty; 1813 signed doc't w/seal FRAMEABLE manuscript document written and signed in October 1813 by Indiana politician Enoch McCarty. The document is an order to the sheriff to summon John Neal; signed by McCarty as a Clerk of Courts. Size 8” by 12” on rag-content paper, embossed territorial court seal at lower left (a weak strike); age toned - heavier at folds, tiny holes at intersection of folds, overall very good condition. Enoch McCarty was born January 5, 1783, in Culpepper, Virginia. He was a lawyer, a farmer, a Justice of the Peace in Dearborn County in 1808, a delegate to the Indiana State Constitutional Convention in 1816, a member of the Indiana State Senate from 1832-1834, a member of the Indiana state House of Representatives from 1835-1837, a Presidential Elector from Indiana in 1836. Enoch died on December 12, 1857, and was buried in the Old Brookville Cemetery. This is a genuine original, period piece, not a copy or reproduction. Return for any reason or even for no reason.
