Here is a Very Large, Handsome Punch Bowl made in Sterling Silver in 1808 in Glasgow by the Famous Scottish Silversmiths Robert Gray and Son, and sent to Edinburgh to be Assayed and HallmarkedThis Punch Bowl of Superb Quality and Massive Gauge Features Large Raised Acanthus Leaf Decoration around the Body, a Gadrooned Rim and the Foot with a Pebble Design Accent Decoration
This Handsome Punch Bowl Measures 6¾ Inches Tall (17 cms), 12 Inches Across the Top (30.5 cms) and Weighs 70 Ounces (1960 grams) of Hallmarked Sterling Silver
The Hallmarks as Shown are the Castle Town Mark for Edinburgh, the Thistle Guarantee Mark for Sterling Silver, the Letter “c” Date Mark for 1808, and the Duty Mark the Head of King George the Third
The Maker’s Mark has been scraped, but has been Identified by Experts, by the Shape and Size of the Square Cartouche, as almost certainly that of Robert Gray and Son of Glasgow
