Fine English Sterling Silver Elk Crest Fish Server 1802 with Hand Carved Handle

Presented is an extraordinary English sterling silver fish server. This piece was made in London in 1802. The head is designed with classic openwork patterns and elegant reeding to the edge. A very fine Elk head and cross crest is engraved at the base of the serving portion. The fine, hand-carved oxe bone handle has nice graining and some crosshatching visible at the end.
The server is marked with the crowned leopard's head for London, the lion passant for sterling silver, a duty mark of King George III's head, a date letter G for the year 1802 and the IS maker's mark for John Shekleton who first registered his mark in 1799.
This great, old piece is still in superb condition despite its age. The server was made over 200 years ago, in 1802, and barely has any wear! The handle is very secure and there is no play or wiggle. There is visible crosshatching in the handle, which is nice to find, on either side. There is an age split on the side of the handle, and this has been professionally filled with resin and the handle is very solid and strong. There are no breaks, no cracks, no splits, no monogram removals and no other repairs.
This is a eye-catching, antique piece that would be a fabulous addition to any collection.
The server measures 11 3/4 inches long.
