    Description

Up for bid is a fine English silverplate on copper covered serving dish with inset crest by Creswick. The dish is 13 ¼ inches long by 10 1 /8 inches wide over the handles and stands about 5 inches tall. The piece has bands of shell and scroll decoration on the rim and top of the lid. The fancy cast handle is removable as shown. It has an inset engraved crest on the lid with the motto “FRANGAS NON FLECTES”. It bears the crossed arrow mark of Creswick & Co., and well as a small tree? mark (not shown)
Condition on the dish is fairly good. There is copper showing through in a few places, mainly on the ribs on the interior of the lid and at the contact points on the base. The handle attachment is worn, and ther is some tissue inserted into the socket to keep it tight. The lid has a circular scratch form the handle as well. Still an impressive old serving dish with a great crest.
