WHERE ON EARTH ARE WE GOINGby Maurice Strong
First Edition Hardcover
Extremely rare autographed/signed Maurice Strong book. Very few personal signed notes from Strong to friends exist for sale anywhere. What's even more amazing is the inscription discusses a "build back better" reference yet this book was signed in 2000. May be the only one of its type in existence that's signed personally for a fellow comrade.
Inscription reads, "To Tom. A valued ally in the challenge of building a better world! With my affection and best. Maurice Strong May 23, 2000"
Signed over to his friend and another famous individual in the Climate Change movement Tom. Strong rarely signed anything and we were fortunate to get a hold of this treasured copy dedicate to his friend back about a decade ago. He died in 2015.
In the 1990's and early 2000's there was a theory that the planet was warming up. Billionaire Maurice Strong held the famous 1992 climate summit where leaders from around the world gathered to plan out what later became "Agenda 21". Strong worked with United Nations head Kofi Annan until the famous "food for oil" scandal broke a few years later. Strong is often credited with being the Godfather or inventor of the Global Warming theory movement.
BOOK SYNOPSIS: World hunger, environmental disaster, global warming, massive shifts in weather systems, the re-emergence of diseases long thought controlled, and political turmoil in a world where a barrel of water is more expensive than a barrel of oil. So says the Report to Shareholders, Earth, Inc., dated January 1, 2031 that begins, Where on earth are we going? Maurice Strong's apocalyptic prophesy for the future Â- unless we're lucky or wise Â- is a call to action for all who care about the state of the earth in the near future. Strong, the executive coordinator of the reform effort at the UN and senior advisor to the President of the World Bank, has one goal: to shape a peaceful and equitable future for all humankind. Hard-headed, practical, impassioned, Where on Earth are We Going? is a call to action by a key business and environmental player at the beginning of the 21st century that can not be ignored and will be much debated.
