Description
Offered . .......an English solid silver
Victorian ball footed salt cellar.
The piece is fully hallmarked for sterling silver, London 1880 by William Evans. Keep in mind that in 1880, salt was still a somewhat valuable commodity, so it should come as no surprise that the serving pieces were elegant. The piece is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest by about 1 1/2 inches tall. It weighs a substantial 53 grams. The interior of the cellar is lightly gilded to protect the silver from the salt. The salt cellar is in excellent pre-owned condition with no dings or damage to the sterling and no "pushes" from the ball feet. There is NO MONOGRAM.
