This listing is for a lovely English hallmarked solid Sterling Silver traveling flatware set consisting of a knife, fork and spoon with an unusual design on handle end. Each piece
is marked with English hallmarks for Sheffield, Sterling with date letter for 1872 and has maker's stamp for Martin, Hall & Co. The handle has an engraved design on both sides of stem and a castle turret type decoration on the handle end. The Martin, Hall company was in business in both Sheffield and London from 1863-1880.
These sets were common among the wealthy travelers through Europe during the Grand Tour era.
Knife measures 8" long and weighs 55 grams. Fork measures 6 3/8" long and weighs 40 grams. Spoon measures 6 1/2" long and weighs 45 grams. Combined weight is 140 grams.
Each piece of this set is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws and reflecting only minor signs of normal wear.
