This Schaeffer 1935-1940 'Balance' mechanical pencil & fountain pen set, were made prior to the onset of WWII & still have a distinctively Art Deco/Streamlined era design sensibility & decorative attitude. The polymer bodies feature a striated sepia brown, burnt umber, gold & putty white staved composition, where mother of pearl enhanced flashes of color, dash up & down the pen & mechanical pencil vert. The hinged hard case is orig to the pen & pencil set & has a satin lining, that nicely compliments the pen & pencil's coloring. The nib of the fountain pen is half stainless steel & half gold, w/the marking 'Schaeffer's Feather Touch #5' pressed into the facia of the pen nib. The mechanical pencil is in working cond. Estate fresh. Clean.
