Charles Gates Dawes (August 27, 1865 - April 23, 1951) was an American banker, general, diplomat, composer, and Republican politician who was the 30th vice president of the United States from 1925 to 1929 under Calvin Coolidge. For his work on the Dawes Plan for World War I reparations, he was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1925.

a) 8" 3/8 x 5" Card with printed photo and hand signed dedication and autograph of soon-to-be 30th Vice-President of the US, Charles G. Dawes, located in Evanston, Illinois and dated July 23, 1924. Condition: Very Good (Light foxing, couple of ink stains)
b) Front cover of postal envelope used to send the card, postmarked from Evanston on July 4, 1924. Condition: Good (Missing stamps, surface tear on back from dismounting)

From the collection of Alejandro Zorrilla de San Martin (birth: Montevideo, Uruguay, September 21, 1880 - death: Montevideo, Uruguay: December 12, 1941), who spent over 20 years collecting autographs mainly from prominent political figures worldwide. He used to send blank cards with a newspaper or magazine clipped photo of the person, attaching a letter asking for an autograph and including a self-addressed envelope.
