Description
Britannia Silver Dog nose Spoon created by Benjamin Watts of London early 18th Century
A beautiful dog nose spoon created during the early 18th Century during the Britannia standard period from 1697 to 1720. The spoon has an oval-shaped bowl, wide profiled rat tail, flat handle, and dog nose shape at the handle's tip.
Dimensions: L 8-1/8" Weight: 2.0 Oz.
In good condition.
The hallmarks are as follows:
WA - markers mark of Benjamin Watts, registered in 1698

Britannia - mark that the silver content is 95.833% (bottom visible but rubbed to a faint outline)
Leopard's Head Erased - town mark for London (bottom visible but rubbed to a faint outline)
Date Mark - mostly erased, keep in mind that the date would be between the dates of 1697 and 1720 (the Britannia silver period)
