Biography by Catherine Coffin Phillips of Sen.Cornelius Cole w/ Handwritten Letter Signed By Cole
A decent copy of the book, but also a letter of
some
historical importance. Cole was California's
first U.S. Senator after statehood. The letter is tough to read, but he appears to be expressing some dissatisfaction with the conclusion of WWI. He was very old when he wrote it in 1921and was to die two years later in 1923.
I could only guess how this letter came to be in a book that wasn't published until 1929. A scholar or maybe the man who the letter was directed to, one Thomas Keaton.
