    BILLIARDS 1710
    The origins of billiards are
    obscure although some believe
that they go back to Classical
    times. The game was de-
    veloped from a variety of
    different forms, among which
was probably the game of Pall
    Mall. There are many historical
    and pictorial allusions to the
game of billiards in England in
    the 16th and 17th centuries.
