Description

12 volt Trigger-controlled Cabinet Cooling Fan System (12v)
This cooling system is designed to be mounted in your enclosed equipment cabinet or computer desk.  It will quietly pull the warm air out and exhaust it outside.
It includes a 12v trigger module, which turns the fans on and off, when controlled by your component's 12 volt trigger system.
The system has 2 high-quality, low-noise 80mm fans (with long-lasting and quiet fluid dynamic bearings), integrated into a single housing.   It is intended to add cooling to your Home Theater, Audio-Visual, or equipment cabinet.  I
n addition, YOU control the fan speed, using the multi-speed fan controller.
It is intended to help cool: Computers / Receivers / Amplifiers / Stereos / Audio Visual & Home Theater Cabinets.
What's
Included?
THE COOLING SYSTEM INCLUDES:
1 x dual-80mm fan cabinet unit, 1 x 12 volt trigger module, 1 x multi-speed power transformer, mounting hardware, and printed installation instructions.
Note:
In the listing pictures, the cooling systems are shown in two views: 1) against a woodgrain panel, to show how it might look when mounted in a cabinet and 2) against a colored panel, displaying the complete system.
These panels are used for display purposes only, and are not included with the system.
1 x dual-80mm
cabinet fan unit
(2 fans), with
mounting plates
and grills.
The mounting
screws are shown
already installed.
1 x 12 volt
trigger control
module.  This
controller detects
the signal from
your receiver's
12v port. It
then directs
power from the
cooling system
transformer
to the fans.
1 x multi-speed
power transformer,
with a 4-1/2 foot
cable. It lets
you choose from
6 different speeds
for the fans.
Features
ABOUT 12v (12 volt) TRIGGERS:
Many modern receivers have this feature, which turns other components or accessories on and off automatically.  It usually consists of a socket (sometimes more than one) on the back of the receiver, into which you plug your 12v control cable .   Normally, when the receiver is on, this cable provides a 12 volt signal to the other component, which tells it to be "On".  When the receiver is off, the 12 volt signal stops, and the other component goes "Off".   Some receivers have a different 12v setup, which allows you to program the operation of the 12v outlet.
Note:
Your receiver only supplies a tiny trickle of power, which activates the trigger module.   This protects your receiver's circuitry, which is not designed to power a fan.  Instead, my 12v trigger module controls the power from the multi-voltage transformer (included with the cooling system), which runs the fans.
IMPORTANT:
My 12v trigger module will turn the fans on and off automatically, whenever 12 volts is applied to the control cable.  When the 12 volts turns off, the fans stop.
Please check your receiver's operation manual, to confirm that your system can provide this 12 volt signal whenever you want the fans to run.
If your system doesn't support 12v control, I would recommend selecting a system with an adjustable thermostat or USB controller (see the "Help!" section below).
OTHER FEATURES:
The cooling system has 2 high-quality, low-noise 80mm fans, with long-lasting and quiet fluid dynamic bearings.
The mounting plate & grills seal air and make installation easy.   The fan unit is securely fastened to your cabinet by screws.
The system includes a 12v trigger module, which turns the fans on and off, via the 12v trigger socket on your receiver (see note above about operation).  The 12v trigger module comes with a 3' cable which has a 3.5mm (1/8") plug on the end -- the standard for most systems.  If you need a 2.5mm trigger plug adapter, I can provide one for a small charge.
Also includes a multi-speed power transformer, which plugs into any 120 volt outlet.  You control the speed of the fan, using this adjustable transformer.  It can be set to any one of 6 different speeds.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:
The unit's power transformer (supplied with the cooling system), can be switched to either 110/120 volt or 220/240 volt operation.  However, the transformer uses the standard US-style 2-prong plug.
Contact me if you need an adapter plug (
there is no charge
), and specify one of the three types:  1) NZ/AU  (2 slanted prongs) 2) Euro (2 round prongs), or UK (three large prongs).
Even at medium speeds settings, the fans will replace a volume of air equal to that of small to medium cabinet areas several times per minute (see airflow specs below).
All cooling system parts connect together using special heavy-duty Molex quick-connect plugs, which allows the parts to be separated for easy wire-routing.
The standard system comes set up so that hot air enters the front of the fan unit (finished side, with mounting plate and grills), and exits out the back.
If you need to have air coming out the front, just let me know.  There is no extra charge for this option.  You can also easily change the fan orientation later, if necessary.
The system comes with instructions and a mounting template to facilitate installation.
It comes completely assembled, with all components installed, wired and ready to go!
Specifications
Dimensions:
The 80mm dual-fan cabinet cooling unit measures approximately 4-5/8" high x 8" wide, which includes the mounting plate.  The required hole is approximately 3-1/4" high x 6-5/8" wide.  The unit is 1-1/4" thick behind the mounting plate, and only requires about 1/3" additional space for airflow.
12 volt trigger specifications:
The 12 volt trigger module is 1-1/2" long and 1" wide, and 3/4" thick.
The cable is 3' long.
Maximum current draw:
.32 amps or 4 watts.  Normal operation (at lower speeds) will draw less current and watts.
Bearing type:
Super quiet, long lasting Fluid Dynamic bearings.
The table below shows specifications for
both of the 2 fans
,
when run together,
at several different speeds.
The shaded area on the table indicates suggested fan speeds for this system.
