Antique English Silverplate Fern Stand Rare Form Acorn & Oak Leaf Ornamentation

Description

We are pleased to offer a handsome silverplated fern or plant stand from Hawksworth Eyre & Co of England.  The form is rare.  A sculpted base supports a graceful basket that is ornamented with acorn and oak leaf garlands and a small cartouche on the front that is suitable for a monogram.  Based on the mark it was made between 1853 and 1872 in Sheffield.  It is heavy, elegant and unique.
Condition:
Very good - there is some silver wear between the fronds on the base in several areas where the copper shows through.  Most likely due to overzealous polishing!
Size:
15 1/4" tall, 9 1/4" diameter at top.  It weighs almost 6 pounds unboxed.
