1945 Classic English Sterling Silver Openwork Dish w Onslow Scroll FeetPresented is a fine quality English sterling silver tray or dish. This piece was
made by Mappin & Webb, and dates to 1945. This piece is made in a lovely
classical form, with beautiful pierced openwork around the rim. The dish stands
on three Onslow scroll-form feet, quite sturdy and well cast. The rim of the
dish has a beaded and notched design.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no dents, no breaks,
no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked on the side with the lion passant for sterling
silver, the anchor for the city of Birmingham, the date letter V for 1945, and
the maker's mark for Mappin & Webb. The underside is also marked Mappin
& Webb and Made in England.
The dish measures about 10 ¼ inches in diameter and stands about 3 inches
tall at the rim.
This piece weighs 591 grams or 20.8 regular ounces.
