Presented is a fine Victorian English sterling silver ladle from 1846. The design is quite simple and elegant, with a long and sturdily made handle and a deep bowl, perfect for serving soup. The handle is monogrammed with AMLR in fancy script. This is a large and well made piece of silver work, and would be an asset to any table or collection.
The ladle is in excellent condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The reverse of the handle is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for London, the Queen Victoria I head duty mark, the date letter L for 1846, and the maker's mark for Robert Wallis.
The ladle is approximately 13 1/4 inches long.
The ladle weighs 246 grams.
