Presented is a handsome English Georgian sterling silver platter, stuffing or serving spoon. This piece was made by Peter, Ann & William Bateman and dates to 1801. The spoon is done in a classical form, with the traditional downward turn to the end of the handle and pip on the back. The front of the handle has a monogram of WMW in elegant script. The spoon is well made, with a nice feeling of weight and quality in the hand.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter F for 1801, King George III's head duty mark, and the maker's mark for Peter, Ann & William Bateman.
